On the birth of my adopted daughter. I am eternally grateful to have been given the gift of life by a wonderful lady; who put the well-being of her daughter in my hands. Who gave me the daughter that I always dreamed of and made my family complete.



A being
growing heedless
Unseeing
Feeling
Unplanned
but loved.

Loved beyond reason
having not foreseen
Wished for
unable to nurture.

Thought about in a mindful manner
Planned for but without attachment?
hopes for another being put before one’s own.

What strength is required
To carry out a plan so carefully conceived?

What heartbreak will follow
A deed so unselfishly followed to conclusion!

Knowing your dilemma
Wishing you strength

Hoping your decision is correct
for you and us.

We have much to be grateful for
Appreciate your predicament
Know you have spent
many hours in the small of the night.

As we have done
Thinking
Wishing
Hoping
Praying that things
might have been another way.

But we are simple human beings.
We cannot change what is decreed.
A seed planted that simply won't grow
Another that grew simply by mistake.

Together may we do right for a being
We both slowly grew to love
The miracle of life
Growing within your body
Growing as time goes by to my heart.

Both of us being mothers put us on a plain beyond the act of giving birth.
Knowing that is only the first step.
The rest of the way is long and hard
Full of giving and receiving
Reasoning the often unreasonable
Understanding the ununderstandable
Loving beyond both emotions
Laughing when all seems lost.

Building again when there seems no foundation
Renewing our priorities
Knowing we are lucky to have what we already have
Appreciating the life we have
Loving existence and going forward with hope.
